Member for Stoke, South, into the case of the Fenton civilian who was summarily sentenced by a military officer under the National Service Acts; and if he will make a statement on all that is involved.
§ Mr. F. MacleanYes. The individual concerned is a National Service man who is performing his part-time service in the Territorial Army. He failed to comply with a training notice served upon him under the National Service Act, 1948, and was dealt with under the provisions of that Act and the Auxiliary Forces Act,1953. He was dealt with summarily by his commanding officer, but he could, if he wished, have elected to be tried by court-martial.
