Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware of the danger to the liberty of the subject in Kenya caused by the present operation there of emergency legislation; and if he will institute an inquiry into the past, present and future operation of such legislation there.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThis special legislation will be required until the emergency is at an end, but its operation is kept under continuous review by the Kenya Government, who ensure that it is adapted to the minimum required in the changing character of the emergency. I do not consider that any separate inquiry is warranted or required.
