§ Mr. Mossasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation the position of the proposal to construct a by-pass at Atherstone, in the County of Warwick; and whether he is aware of the urgency for this project to be completed.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterI am aware of the desirability of providing a by-pass at Atherstone and at my request the Warwickshire County Council included such a proposal in the County Development Plan. I have agreed that the agent authority, which in this case is the Warwickshire County Council, should proceed with the preliminary survey work so that I can in due course establish the by-pass as a trunk road by order under Section 1 (2) of the Trunk Roads Act, 1946. It is not possible at present to say when this work can be put in hand.
