asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the present policy of the Government in relation to the reunification of East Germany and West Germany.

It remains the view of Her Majesty's Government that the first essential step to the reunification of Germany is free all-German elections. How this can best be brought about will be considered in consultation with the Governments interested.
