§ Sir A. Bossomasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he is aware that the National Farmers' Union have objected to the general alignment of 76W the Medway by-pass as proposed in the Kent Development Plan; and if he will make sure that the Union is consulted concerning the route of any future important new by-passes.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterI am aware of the objection made by the Kent Branch of the National Farmers' Union, and my Department is still in consultation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food about the agricultural interests affected. Such consultations are a part of the normal procedure. In addition, my Department, in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, are discussing with the headquarters of the National Farmers' Union and Country Landowners Association the broad effects on agricultural interests of the motorways included in the programme which I announced on 2nd February.
