§ 102. Mr. Goughasked the Minister of Supply if he is aware of the distress and shock caused, particularly to elderly people living in the proximity of Dunsfold Aerodrome, by the noise of jet fighter planes landing and taking off from that aerodrome; and what steps he proposes to take to minimise this trouble.
§ Mr. ErrollVarious measures, which have been markedly successful, have been taken to reduce the noise of engine running on the ground at Dunsfold. The noise caused by aircraft taking off and landing cannot at present be reduced, but the results of research which has been in hand for some four years are promising.190W Meanwhile the Hawker Aircraft Company has taken all practicable steps to reduce the disturbance caused to the public.
