Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the official decision of the State health department of Idaho, United States of America, not to resume the mass inoculation programme against poliomyelitis, and to sponsor no further free vaccinations for schoolchildren because of the doubt as to its safety and effectiveness; and whether he will take similar action in this country.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodI have seen Press reports of this decision; as I have already informed the House, we shall carry out intensive tests before deciding to embark on vaccination against poliomyelitis in this country.
