Thomasasked the Minister of Health the number of beds vacant at the Rookwood Hospital, Cardiff; the average number of vacant beds at this hospital during the past 12 months; and what steps he is taking to use these beds to relieve the long waiting lists for admission to Cardiff hospitals.
§ Miss Hornsby-SmithAt present there are 118 vacant beds, and the average during the past 12 months has been 108. Subject to the prior admission of war pensioners, my right hon. Friend is arranging for facilities to be used to relieve local waiting lists, and there are already 38 National Health Service patients in the hospital. A further 32 orthopaedic beds are to be brought into use very shortly.
