§ 56. Mr. Owenasked the Minister of Agriculture what is being done to encourage the agricultural apprenticeship training schemes in Northumberland; how many boys and girls have been accepted for training; and how many have been successfully placed after training.
Mr. AmoryThe Agricultural Apprenticeship Scheme was launched just over 43W a year ago by the two sides of the industry. Help is given by the Youth Employment Service, local education authorities and my own Department. In Northumberland so far there are five apprentices, all boys. The course is for three years and the last part of the Question does not therefore arise.
