§ Mr. GammansFigures for Wales itself are not readily available, but in Wales and the Border Counties 14,448 telephones were connected during 1954. Outstanding applications fell from 23,030 at the beginning of the year to 21,452 at the end; in England the outstanding applications fell from 302,545 to 296,053.
