Lient.-Colonel Lockwoodasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he is aware of the number of accidents which have occurred on road A. 12 within the Brentwood, Essex, urban district in recent months; and whether to prevent further accidents he will authorise the commencement of work on the Brentwood by-pass in respect of which detailed plans have already been prepared.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterI know of, and much regret, the number of accidents which have occurred on road A. 12 at Brentwood, Essex, in recent months. I hope to include the construction of the Brentwood by-pass in the expanded road programme in due course, but I am not at present in a position to go beyond what was contained in my statement of 2nd February.
