HC Deb 21 February 1955 vol 537 c114W
98. Sir F. Markham

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation how far agreement has been reached on the line of the new London-Birmingham motor way; and when accurate maps of the proposed route will be made available for inspection at local authority offices.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I assume my hon. and gallant Friend has in mind the first section of the London-Yorkshire motor road, which is to have connection with Birmingham. A provisional line has been fixed in consultation with various interests concerned, including local highway and planning authorities whose final comments on it are now awaited. I shall then have to publish a draft scheme under the Special Roads Act, 1949, which will include maps available for inspection by the public. I hope to do this by the end of the summer.
