Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware of the public anxiety regarding the unsatisfactory conditions of the Kampala European and Asian Hospital; and when he hopes to appoint the committee which is to inquire into the development of the medical health services in the Uganda Protectorate.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThe organisation of the services of this hospital was the subject of a departmental inquiry, but, in view of the public anxiety, the Governor later appointed a Committee under a judicial chairman to make further inquiries. With very few exceptions, the recommendations made by both Committees have been accepted in principle by the Uganda Government and some have already been put into effect. The Uganda Government also propose to appoint an independent Committee to review the Protectorate's medical and health policy on the widest basis. This proposal will shortly be discussed in the Uganda Legislative Council.
