HC Deb 14 February 1955 vol 537 c1W
15. Mr. W. T. Williams

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what action he proposes to take to ensure that sufficient smokeless fuels are produced for those who wish to buy them.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

I am encouraging all the fuel industries concerned to expand their capacity to meet the prospective increases in demand for coke, gas, electricity, manufactured solid fuels, and natural smokeless coals. It is also the Government's policy to promote the increased use of oil, and in many cases this will release coke for other consumers.
