HC Deb 14 February 1955 vol 537 cc10-1W
75. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance whether, in view of the difficulties of older people who are late entrants into insurance and who find it impossible to get employment in the late 60's and early 70's, he will consider granting unemployment benefit to these people to help them until they become entitled to their pension.

Mr. Peake

The arrangements for late age entrants to National Insurance in 1948 were carefully considered when the present scheme was introduced and I do not think they can be altered now.
