HC Deb 14 February 1955 vol 537 c1W
21. Mr. Russell

asked the Minister of Food why the Commonwealth share of United Kingdom imports of wheat decreased considerably in 1954, compared with 1953; and what representations have been received from Canada and Australia about this decrease.

Dr. Hill

Largely because of the heavy disposals of Commonwealth wheat and flour stocks bought by the Government in earlier years, and partly because of the excellent home harvest in 1954. We are in constant touch with the Governments of Canada and Australia and are fully aware of their points of view on this question.
