HC Deb 09 February 1955 vol 536 c211W
Mr. Dudley Williams

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he has now reached a decision with regard to the proposals made to him for improving the approaches to Honiton at a cost of £150,000, as an alternative to the suggested by-pass which would cost £2 million.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I do not know of any such proposals estimated to cost £150,000, but I hope to include some improvements on the narrow bends to the east of Honiton in the trunk road programme for 1955–56. These should not be regarded as an alternative to the by-pass, but as interim measures which could be carried out at an early date.
