§ Major Lloyd-GeorgeAfter consideration of the views which have been expressed by the local Aid Societies on148W this recommendation, I have authorised the Prison Commissioners, in consultation with the National Association of Discharged Prisoners' Aid Societies, to initiate during the coming financial year an experimental pilot scheme which will provide for the appointment of prison welfare officers, as recommended by the Committee, at three or four selected local prisons at which the local Aid Society would welcome such an appointment.
