§ Mr. Lennox-BoydNo school-leaving age is prescribed by law or by the educational code in Mauritius. The recent reorganisation is intended to make it possible to take the primary syllabus in six years instead of seven by stabilising the age of entry and by consequential rearrangement of classes. Children starting at five plus should complete their course at 11 plus, when they can pass on to some form of secondary education or remain in the primary school.
