Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the numbers of electors for the North, West and East regions of Nigeria and the Cameroons, respectively; what percentage this is of the possible electorate under adult franchise; the percentage of registered electors in each region who did vote; and the various party strengths finally returned in each region.

The great majority of successful candidates at the primary elections had no declared party affiliations. The party strengths of those who declared affiliations were:

Middle Zone League 144
Bornu Youth Movement 20
Miscellaneous, including tribal unions 56
