HC Deb 02 February 1955 vol 536 cc107-8W
46. Mr. Osborne

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he is aware that, despite his promise of last July that the four portal cranes ordered for the port of Immingham would be dispatched last September, not one has been erected; and, since good work is being lost by the port of Immingham owing to the lack of modern machinery, what steps he is now taking to see the promise he made last July is honoured.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

No such promise was made. My hon. Friend the Joint Parliamentary Secretary passed on in July the information which he had received from the suppliers. This information appears to have erred on the side of optimism.
