§ Mr. Doddsasked the Minister of Labour to state the actual prices used in the compilation of the Interim Index of Retail Prices for January, 1952, August, 1953, and the latest convenient date, of bread, milk, tea, butter, margarine, cooking fat, cheese, bacon, meat, eggs, sugar, flour and potatoes, respectively.
§ Mr. WatkinsonThe construction of the index is such that the average prices of individual food items at different dates are not computed. The Ministry of Labour Gazette and the Monthly Digest of Statistics give quarterly changes in the indices for certain groups of food-stuffs, and I would refer the hon. Member to these figures.
