§ Mr. BevinsFive scientific officers have been engaged on research into the bacterial breakdown of aromatic compounds during the last three years, although they were not all employed on this work for the whole period. The cost was about £3,000 in 1952, £7,200 in 1953 and £6,800 in 1954.
