HC Deb 21 December 1955 vol 547 cc342-3W
Brigadier Clarke

asked the Minister of Education what representations he has received from the National Union of Teachers regarding the proposed increase of one per cent. in their payments to the superannuation fund; and what was his reply.

Sir D. Eccles

I have received some 60 letters from branches of the National Union of Teachers. I have asked them to consider the arguments for the proposals in the Teachers' Superannuation Bill which I set out in my speech on the Second Reading on the 6th December. These proposals must, of course, be considered together as parts of a settlement of a financial problem of unique character.
