HC Deb 21 December 1955 vol 547 cc320-1W
50. Mr. Zilliacus

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he is aware that beneficiaries of the pension supplements scheme introduced by the Transport Commission last April, and approved by him, may not earn more than £1 a week before their earnings are deducted from their pensions; and whether he will take steps to raise the limit of earnings permitted without deduction from pensions to the national level of £2 a week.

Mr. Molson

The answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes." This scheme of pension supplements for retired salaried staff, the revised terms of which my right hon. Friend announced to the House on 27th April last, was introduced by the British Transport Commission under their own powers. As to the second part of the Question, my right hon. Friend is in touch with the Commission on the general problem of assistance to pensioners.
