HC Deb 21 December 1955 vol 547 c348W
Mr. G. M. Thomson

asked the President of the Board of Trade to introduce legislation to ensure that hire-purchase agreements are compelled to contain full details of bank charges or other charges involved in making payments.

Mr. Walker-Smith

No. I am not aware that hire-purchase agreements stipulate a method of remitting instalments which compels the customer to incur bank charges for collection, and I understand that it is open to the hirer to make his remittance direct to the finance company concerned or its Agent, if he prefers.
