HC Deb 21 December 1955 vol 547 cc344-5W
Mr. Hale

asked the Minister of Supply to what extent, in placing contracts for cotton goods and for materials containing cotton, it is a condition of Government contracts that the goods should have been made in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Maudling

It is not the practice of my Department to make home production a condition of tenders for cotton textile goods; but in the case of large tenders for such goods, it is the practice to ascertain where the various processes of manufacture will be undertaken.
