Mr. K. Thompson

asked the Minister of Works whether he will make a statement about the appointment of a committee to advise on works of art in the House of Commons.

My hon. Friend the Member for Farnham (Mr. Nicholson) has agreed to act as Chairman, and the hon. Members for Southport (Mr. Fleetwood-Hesketh), Orkney and Shetland (Mr. Grimond), Cambridge (Mr. Kerr), Deptford (Sir L. Plummer) and Stoke-on-Trent, Central (Dr. Stross) have consented to serve.

The Committee's terms of reference will be: To advise Mr. Speaker and the Minister of Works on matters relating to works of art in the House of Commons area of the Palace of Westminster.
