Mrs. Butlerasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance what examination he has recently made of the arrangements for notifying married women of arrears in contributions which may arise from default by employers; and what action he proposes to take so that married women are not deprived of benefit in such circumstances.
§ Mr. PeakeThe arrangements for notifying married women of their contribution position are at present under review. Under the provisions of the National Insurance Act an employee would not be deprived of benefit by the failure of an, employer to pay contributions provided' that the employee was not to blame for the failure; the contributions concerned would, for benefit purposes, be treated as paid.
