§ 89. Mr. G. Thomasasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance the number of recipients of National Assistance in Cardiff who have been directed during the past year by his Department to seek second-hand clothing from the Women's Voluntary Service.
§ Mr. PeakeThis is a matter for the National Assistance Board who inform me that an applicant is put in touch with this voluntary organisation only with his consent and after any exceptional need which might justify a grant under the Board's own powers has been considered. No record is maintained of the cases in which such action is taken.
