§ 14. Mr. D. Howellasked the Minister of Health what representations he has received from the Dudley Road Hospital Management Committee regarding the shortage of cooks in the Birmingham Eye, Skin and St. Chad's Hospitals; and what action he proposes to take to remedy the position that has arisen.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodThe committee have represented to me that higher rates of pay for cooks are required to overcome recruitment difficulties. This is a matter in the first place for the Whitley Council to whose attention I have brought it. In the meantime, I have suggested that some assistance might be afforded to these hospitals from other hospitals in the group.
