HC Deb 14 December 1955 vol 547 c188W
93. Mr. Peyton

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air if he will take action to ensure that the food supplied in the Royal Air Force messes in Cyprus is of an adequate standard.

Mr. Ward

In general, satisfactory standards of messing are being maintained at Royal Air Force units in Cyprus despite the difficulties caused by the temporary overcrowding of messes and the consequential strain on the kitchens. At one mess, where rebuilding adds to the difficulties, messing has deteriorated; the Command is however doing all it can to improve it, and the constructional work is being hurried on as rapidly as possible. Messing standards both here and throughout the island will continue to be watched very closely.
