Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that surplus Army stores and equipment sold to private dealers in this country have been resold in the Belgian market, and that this equipment is finding its way to Egypt; and what steps he proposes to take to stop this traffic.
§ Mr. TurtonYes. My right hon. Friend has received reports that certain equipment, for which export licences were granted on the understanding that it 135W would be used for civilian purposes, has been reconditioned and re-exported as war material. Her Majesty's Government are taking measures to prevent this evasion of our export licensing control. I should welcome any information which the hon. Member may be able to send me about such transactions.
