104. Mr. Slaterasked the President of the Board of Trade what steps he has taken to ensure that the importation of coal at its present rate will not prejudice the supply of iron ore and scrap from abroad to the steel industry.
§ Mr. LowThis matter has been considered in conjunction with the National Coal Board and the Iron and Steel Board. The conclusion was reached that coal imports at the present level, whilst increasing freight rates, would not seriously prejudice the supply of iron ore and scrap to the steel industry.
