HC Deb 26 April 1955 vol 540 c45W
Sir A. Bossom

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will send a circular to all local authorities drawing their attention to the need to ensure that full information is in the hands of as many farmers as possible regarding the grants available to enable cottages to be improved.

Mr. Sandys:

I do not think that another circular is needed at present. It is apparent from the recent marked increase in the number of grants made, particularly in rural areas, that both farmers and local authorities are now well aware of the possibilities. Publicity has been and is being given about the grants available by leaflets, booklets and exhibitions. In addition, 27 special meetings have been held by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food especially for farmers.
