HC Deb 26 April 1955 vol 540 c52W
72. Mr. Dodds

asked the hon. Member for Woolwich, West, as Chairman of the Kitchen Committee, the estimated loss of income to the Refreshment Department resulting from the impending dissolution of Parliament; how it will affect the possibility of the department showing a profit for 1955; and what action is being taken to minimise the loss of business consequent upon a May Election.

Mr. W. Steward:

Loss of turnover in the Refreshment Department is estimated at£14,000. Unless exceptional business is done between the time when the House resumes and 31st December next, our financial results for the year will suffer to the exent of approximately£6,300. The only action which can be taken to offset this loss is to encourage Members to patronise the Department as much as possible when the new Parliament assembles
