§ 41. Mr. Blackburnasked the Minister of Education to give an estimate of what would be the additional cost to his Department if differential rates of grant were abolished and all recognised local education authority expenditure were subject to a Government grant of 65 per cent.
§ Sir D. EcclesIf the present education grant had been replaced by a flat 65 per cent. grant on all local authority expenditure on Ministry of Education services during the financial year which has just ended, the additional cost would have been nearly £10 million.
§ 42. Mr. Blackburnasked the Minister of Education whether, since the Government is the gainer on the present method of calculating the main grant, he will consider raising from £6 to £7 the amount paid per unit of average number on registers.
