§ 5. Sir F. Medlicottasked the Minister of Agriculture if he will have an investigation made to ascertain what proportion of agricultural workers return to agricultural employment after the conclusion of their period of National Service.
§ Mr. NugentMy right hon. and learned Friend the Minister of Labour and National Service has already done so. A questionnaire was recently sent to 1,302 men called up from farms in Great Britain in November, 1951. Of 1,036 who answered it, 692 had returned to agriculture at the end of their National Service. 561 of these, and 29 of the others, were working in agriculture a year later.
