Mr. Carr

asked the Assistant Postmaster General how many new subscribers have been provided with telephone service in the borough of Beddington and Wallington in 1954 to the latest convenient date; and how the average monthly rate of new installations in 1954 compares with 1953.

Mr. Gammans

Five hundred and seventy-six telephones were connected during the first nine months of this year. The average monthly rate of installation was 64 compared with 49 for the corresponding period in 1953.

Mr. Carr

asked the Assistant Postmaster General how many people are still on the waiting list for telephones in the borough of Beddington and Wallington; and what percentage of these have been waiting for more than two, four and six years, respectively.

Mr. Gammans

Two hundred and sixty-nine applications are outstanding. Of these 23 per cent. have been waiting between two and four years, 6 per cent. between four and six years and 1 per cent. over six years.
