HC Deb 24 November 1954 vol 533 cc137-8W
102. Air Commodore Harvey

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what steps he is taking in the interests of air safety to ensure that aircrew of civil airliners are not fatigued as a result of flying excessive periods on international routes.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

My predecessor arranged for an intensive study of this subject some months ago, and I am expecting a report very shortly The present position, as my hon. and gallant Friend will know, is that responsibility is imposed by regulation on operators to establish such limitations on flight time of aircrew as will ensure that the safety of their aircraft is not endangered by crew fatigue.
