HC Deb 24 November 1954 vol 533 cc138-9W
103. Mr. Oldfield

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation when he expects to be in a position to announce his decision upon the recommendation made by the Select Committee on the Rochdale Canal Bills in April, 1952, to the effect that the whole question of the future of disused canals should be dealt with by public legislation, following a general inquiry into the matter.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I am not in a position to make a statement on this subject. As the hon. Member is no doubt aware, a detailed investigation of this complex subject has been taking place.
