74. Mrs. Whiteasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what areas traditionally regarded as Masai lands have been taken for game reserves and what restrictions this imposes on the inhabitants.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydIn game reserves in Kenya and Tanganyika hunting and killing animals is prohibited except under licence. Game may however be killed either in self-defence or for the protection of crops or livestock. The authorities have discretion regarding entry and residence, may close any part of a reserve, and may control the movement of livestock.
I am consulting the Governors on the first part of the Question, and will write to the hon. Member when I have received their replies.
