§ 54. Mr. Dribergasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies to expedite the payment of gratuities to officers who have completed periods of service with the Government of British Guiana, in accordance with the terms set out in the pamphlet, "His Majesty's Colonial Service: Post-War Opportunities."
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThe pamphlet was designed to give a general picture of the opportunities for service in Colonial Territories. The information contained in it about conditions of service is of a general nature and does not constitute the formal terms of service for particular appointments. These are set out in the terms of appointment offered to an officer at the time of his selection. Gratuities are only payable when this is stated in the terms of appointment as communicated to and accepted by the officer concerned. I am not aware that any officer entitled to a gratuity has not been paid.
