HC Deb 17 November 1954 vol 533 c32W
37. Mr. Channon

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he is aware of the difficulty experienced by motorists in seeing Halt Major Road signs during the hours of darkness; and whether, in view of the fact that more active steps are now being taken to enforce the observation of these signs, arrangements can be made for them to be illuminated or painted with luminous paint.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I agree that proper lighting of these signs is important. Most are already fitted with reflectors, or are illuminated by individual or street lighting. If my hon. Friend has any particular case in mind, I shall be glad to look into it.
