HC Deb 17 November 1954 vol 533 cc43-4W
98. Mr. Chapman

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether, in view of the large amount of public money being used to subsidise the Independent Television Authority, he will require the Independent Television Authority, under Section 15 (5) (b) of the Television Act, to furnish him with the full information obtained by the Independent Television Authority as to the financial resources and financial security of the programme contractors as they are selected.

Mr. Gammans

No. It is the responsibility of the I.T.A. to satisfy themselves that every programme contractor is both able and willing to carry out his duty under the Act, and this includes his having adequate financial resources and financial security.
