asked the Minister of Food the total amount of sugar stored in the open at Barton Hill, Bristol; how much of it was destroyed by the recent fire; what quantity has been rendered inedible by other means; and when the remainder will be stored indoors to prevent further deterioration.

Dr. Hill

21,000 tons, of which 7,000 has already been moved to the refineries. 300 tons were destroyed by fire. The balance will be cleared by about the end of the year. A small further loss was caused by water.
