asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department the strength of women constables in the West Riding of Yorkshire on the last date for which figures are available; and how many of this number have been recruited since the beginning of the year.

The strength of all ranks of the women police in the West Riding county police force on 31st October, 1954, was 71. This total included 64 constables, of whom 14 had been recruited since 1st January, 1954.
