§ 49. Mr. Balfourasked the Minister of Supply the reason for the continuing shortage of coppered mild steel wire, especially in the gauges from 18 to 9, in view of the hardship it is causing to several industries, notably lamp-shade makers.
§ Mr. Selwyn LloydI am not aware that there is any shortage of this type of steel wire in any gauge. Such inquiries as I have been able to make outside my Department since the Question appeared on the Order Paper last Friday have not revealed any such shortage, but if the hon. Member will let me have further information, I will have inquiries made.
