HC Deb 05 November 1954 vol 532 cc89-90W
Colonel Clarke

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works, as representing the Lord President of the Council, what is the area of land at present held by the Nature Conservancy, subject to agreements under Section 16 of the National Parks Act, 1949; and the area that has been compulsorily acquired under Sections 17 and 18 of the Act.

Mr. Bevins

The area of land at present subject to Nature Reserve Agreements under Section 16 of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act, 1949, is 40,624 acres. The Nature Conservancy have not hitherto made use of the powers of compulsory acquisition conferred on them under Sections 17 and 18 of the Act.
