HC Deb 04 November 1954 vol 532 c61W
2. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received from the Association of University Teachers on the subject of the inadequacy of the salaries of university teachers; and what reply he has given to those representations.

Mr. H. Brooke

The Association of University Teachers sent to my right hon. Friend last July a copy of a memorandum on salaries which they had submitted to the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals and informed him of the considerations on which that submission was based. As he stated in reply to a Question by the hon. and learned Member two days ago, he hopes before long to be in a position to make a statement.
